Hernan Bracho
Dr. Bracho obtained his veterinary degree in his home country of Mexico. He completed a two-year Internal Medicine and Surgery Specialty to enhance his clinical skills before practicing in Mexico City for 8 years. During this time, he served as the supervisor of Social Services and Practice Programs at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital for 6 years while working as an associate veterinarian.
In 2010, Dr. Bracho relocated to Houston, TX. He practiced as a general practitioner and became one of GCVS’ referring DVMs for 6 years before deciding to pursue advanced training to become a specialist. During his tenure as a general practitioner, he served as Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital.
Dr. Bracho completed a one-year Critical Care internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in 2017. This was followed by a three-year Emergency and Critical Care residency at the University of Wisconsin, concluding in July 2021. He received his diplomate degree in 2024. His medical interests include point-of-care ultrasound, cardiology, sepsis, and mentoring new generations of veterinarians.
In his spare time, Dr. Bracho enjoys playing soccer, fitness, photography, and traveling. He has four rescue dogs: Topo Chico II, Savi, Nemi, and Chip (rescued from GCVS during Hurricane Harvey), who keep him busy.
